I hope you don't take a PS for your boat!! That guy was probably just jackin' with you anyway to see if you were dumb enough to actually do it. The nerve of some people!!   #@**

I would leave it on there for a while to see what comes about. I would give it atleast a week, then, get in there & re-post it. Sometimes people don't have a lot of time to get on there & look, so some people may have missed it. Atleast this way, just about 95% of everyone will see your post. I wish you the best of luck!! If I hear of anyone looking for a boat like yours, I'll definatly let you know! What is your serious asking price? Is it $4000? I'll ask around.   :A

Just to let everyone know my updates........I have the new motor now (120 Johnson), it will be hooked up by next weekend! I have to get a trim pump motor for it, I am ordering a brand new one off of Ebay for ($65.00)!! Can you believe that price?!?! Anyways, once that is all connected, I should be able to be back on the water by either next weekend or the following one. I can't wait to get out there & drop a line in!! It has been killer to sit back & watch tarpon season pass me by!!    %2%    Wish me luck!! I'll keep you all updated on anything else that goes on with her!    :A

Seems like it's been a long time coming. Good luck with the hook-ups. I'm sure your motor troubles are behind you. Tight lines.  ~`6

Glad to hear you are making progress.

There will be tarpon around for a while, maybe not as many but still enough to have some fun.

One you get it going let me know and I’ll meet you out there. I want to take some pictures of you flying across the water at 80 mph.

$65.00 for a hydraulic pump is a great price, was it a private or company. I paid more than that to get my ram rebuilt.

Keep us up dated and hope to see you out there soon.

I'm not sure of the company that is selling it, I'm buying from Ebay. All together with shipping & everything, it should cost me about $80 total. Ofcourse, I have to put the part on myself which isn't all that hard. Hope to be out there by next weekend if everything goes according to planned.    :A

I just pulled it home about an hour ago, no motor on it yet.    %2%    I still have an issue with the engine before I can mount it on the boat. I have to replace the tilt tube. Easier said than done. I have another one to put in, just getting the old one out is a major pain in the @$$! It is eating me alive to not have a working boat to go out fishing on!!!    $#@

Well, I have an update with my boat.

I've pulled my boat to the house w/o the motor on it, just wanted to get it out of the way at the shop. The motor is still hanging up in the shop. I have to change the tilt tube before I can mount it on the boat. I got it out yesterday with a sawzall. It was REALLY corroded in there!! Now I am left to beat out what is left in the brackets, which should be fun!    ))`    I've tried everything to get this tube out, I've heated it with a torch, sprayed it with PB blaster & let it soak overnight, finally I just cut it off.

Not sure if anyone has ever changed one of these before, but I know there are bushings & shims that go in between it & I have pretty much broken all of them. Does anyone know if I buy a new tilt tube, if it will come with all new bushings & shims?    ~0~

Atleast, once I get this done, I can mount it on the boat!!!    ~~!    Then, my next project with this engine is to fix the VRO pump! I think it should be pretty easy, I'm going to JB weld the bottom plate of it back together & I should be good to go!!!    :A

I recently needed to rebuild one of my tilt rams on a Yamaha. This place is a good source for all the Yamaha parts I ever needed, from filters to water pump parts and the tilt parts I needed.
http://www.boats.net

Not sure the year of you motor but it looks like for Johnson parts they only go back to year 2002. If you motor is older, just to go the dealer.

Keep us updated and hope you get back on the water soon.

I just got the motor on her yesterday. I still have some wires to hook up & I need a fuel pump & some battery cables. Then I should be good to go. My buddy gave me a 4" setback plate too. It's been a while, but I should have her going again in about a week or so.

Looks good. You're one step closer to getting back on the water. What a long, strange trip it's been. Hope to see you out there soon.

As I said, right now the only things I lack are battery cables & some type of fuel pump. Turns out the VRO pump is kinda useless. I need to get an electrical fuel pump that runs about 6-10lbs. of preasure. Probably about 50 bucks at the local auto parts store. Battery cables are a dime a dozen, I could even make my own. Once I get these 2 things taken care of, I'll be back on the water in no time!!    ~~!

Just to add, I do appreciate all the help, info & encouragement along the way. I've spent a lot of time trying to get this thing figured out & I've put some of your ideas into effect along the way. Thanks again!!    ~``

Small update, I have gotten ahold of another VRO pump. I had to put new seals & such into it because it was old & had sat on a shelf for a while. It was a freebee! I also am in the process of making my own battery cables. The only thing that I need to get her going (that I'm aware of) is a new silenoid.

Could anyone tell me if there is a difference between a silenoid from an outboard & one from a car/truck? They look very similar, but I know that looks can be deceiving. I am only curious to know this because I don't want to spend 50 bucks on a marine one, when I could buy one for 20 bucks at the parts store.

Most of the difference between marine and auto motor parts is ability of the marine parts to suppress sparks.

It mostly relevant when motors are enclosed within the boat and need to be vented prior to starting.

On an outboard, I’m not sure if there is a need to worry about fumes building up, but for 30 bucks is it worth taking the chance.

Great looking boat!! I'm sure this thing will get you lots of fish %3% ~`6  I'd really think twice about putting on that VRO pump, I have a 90 horse Evinrude on my fishing boat, and had it in to the dealer for a tune up, he told me it was bound to fail soon so we put on a brand new fuel pump only and I've started mixing my gas and oil, He told me of all the stories of The oil side of the VRO pumps going bad and seizing up power heads, I feel safer now that I KNOW it's getting oil all the time! It runs like a dream this way and the new pump only cost me about $85. A used VRO pump??? Boy I just would'nt trust it, but that's just me.  Good luck.

Well the oil pump part of it is disconnected & blocked off, I am only using the fuel pump part. I will have to mix my fuel & oil running it this way, much safer!!    :A   This way I don't have to go out & spend all this money to get a NEW part, just refurbish the old ones I have!

As for the silenoid, I can't refurbish that, I'll have to buy new. The online price is ($36.80) for an OEM part for Johnson.

Oh, ok, Yep, That will work :) If the pump go's bad then you only run out of gas and just need a new pump, no harm to the power head.  That Johnny 120 V4 is a really good outboard :A

I haven't ran it yet to say the same yet.

I just got the silenoid on it today & it turns over real nice. I need to take it out of the garage tomorrow & check the carbs for fuel & spark plugs for spark. As long as I have those 2 things I should be right as rain!    :A    I'm going out this Saturday on my uncles pontoon, unless I get mine fixed in time, on the river. Should be a good time.    >1)    I just can't wait to get my baby going again & drop a line in the water. I would fish with my uncle off his boat, but he isn't really into it. Sad, I know.   %2%

Hopefully you'll out on Charlolette harbor by the weekend ~`6  I was just saying 120 V4 Johnnyrudes as a group are a really good outboard, many people who have them love them, they are bulletproof.  That rig of your should top out at 45 mph+ :A

I have a feeling that it'll go a little faster than that. But I guess you never know.    $#^~   I used to have a 50hp Mariner 4-stroke on it & it ran about 30-35mph on the GPS.    ;~D
