Moving to the area
« on: March 10, 2010, 10:45:23 PM »
Hello my name is Ryan. I am 26 and I currently live in SW Virginia. I am moving to Bradenton in April. I have been fishing since i was about 11. I got my start salmon fishing in Seattle. I love fishing for anything. I have been learning how to bass fish here in VA since im a long way from the ocean. I am just looking to meet some friends and learn the techniques of fishing in Florida!!!

Welcome Ryan, I think you will enjoy SW Fla.  Being new (8 months) to the area, I have learned a great deal about the fishing from the posters on this forum.  Any questions just post and I am sure somebody knows the answer or knows where to find it.  A lot of great info.  Once again, welcome and I hope to see you out on the water.

Welcome Ryan

If you enjoy fishing you will enjoy Florida.
Many different types of fishing here to meet everyone’s needs. From inshore to offshore, saltwater to freshwater.
Moving here from California was a bit of a learning curve adjusting to the styles of fishing and the new types of fish I never seen before.

One bit adjustment was offshore, where I fished in Los Angeles and kept my boat you went an hour offshore and you would be in 1000 feet or more of water, here on the gulf coast you go an hour offshore and you are in 30 feet of water.

Even Charlotte Harbor where I do most of my fishing the average water depth is less than 10 feet, maybe closer to 6 feet.

Lots of fishing opportunities in this area.
With a boat that you can trailer you will have many places to fish within an hour or so from Bradenton.
Make some local friends that can show you around and just get out and enjoy what this part of Florida has to offer.
