well, I got a 1995 SeaRayder jet boat and a 24 ft Predator center console. The jet boat is perfect, nothing wrong with it, the predator, not so much, I'm in the process of replacing half of the floor but it's coming along alright. after the floor all it's gonna need is a motor, I'm looking at a 200 johnson ocean runner that needs to be rebuilt, which is going to be easy for me because I've been working with a mechanic and I've learned alot. I'll post pics tommorow. That sounds great donahue,  ;~D

Before you know it, you'll have your own mechanics shop & we'll be coming to you to get our boats fixed!     +#$    Sounds like you have a lot of work to do on that floor job your talking about. You should post some before & after pictures so we can see your progress & let us know if your gonna be able to make it to the meeting.    :)

Grounded, How old are you?

Any guy that can that can rebuild boats should have all A’s in school, especially high school which seems to be a joke these days.

Don’t want to lecture you, sounds like your parents are doing that already but these days with the way the economy is, the only thing that sets you apart from others when searching for a job, is your education or experiences.

You only have this opportunity once to go through school and just like everything else in life, get it your all and do the best you can and you will never have any regrets.

And Just tell your parents you have to go fishing, (class research)  +#$

Well that just sucks!     :'(    It's ok though, I'm sure after this meet, we will be planning for another in the near future. Maybe you can attend that one.     :A

As Dave said, not to lecture, but, I was in your shoes not too long ago. I was not so good in school & not to say that I ended up less fortunate than anyone else, but I could possibly be doing better if I had graduated. I'm 25 yrs old & I still don't even have a GED. I'm not ashamed of that, just wishing I would quit being lazy to go get it. I'm plenty smart enough, just lack luster on the whole part about going to do it. I could go on forever about my experiences, but just to say, good luck in school, keep those grades up & you will be pleased with how different your future will be. If you never get anywhere, (no education), you'll always wonder to yourself, what if?     ~8~

For the shop thing, I think you could do it! You seem to have a good knowledge in what to do to fix things like floors & what-not. I could probably do one, but can't say how well it would turn out.     ))`    I would love to see some pics of your newest projects! Can't wait to see how you start, your progress & then the finished product!     `%$@

Not trying to say that school is not importent for your future, because it is for getting a job that requires a degree.  I'm on thefence because i believe if you have a passion for something and in your case working on boats and you can maked your passion your job then that can be more rewarding than going to college getting a degree and working somewhere you hate just for money.  The bible says that what would it benefit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul?  Of course thats just my opinion.

I appreciate the advice everyone, I'm plenty smart enough to get A's im just to interested in other things to focus on school. But I've reorganized my priorities and got my grades up. And I'm almost 16 Dave  ;~D All i want to do when i get out of school is join the coast guard and be a marine mechanic. I will be posting pics of my boats tomorrow, do you still need photobucket to post pics?

I have a son  20 years old. When he graduated high school he wanted to join the Marines.
His mom and I were not all that excited about that idea and my suggestion to him was, and still is, it is better to graduate college and enter the military as an officer then to enlist right out of high school as a grunt.

There are merchant marine schools as well as a US merchant marine academy. And the USCG has its own academy.

My son is still in college and has not said much about joining the Marine lately.

You can post photos without photobucket up to 1 meg in size.

The military is a good place to go if you ask me. They teach you so much more than what you could ever learn on your own. Especially the marines. The coast guard is not an easy thing to do either. I guess depending on what you want to do in the coast guard, the difficulty level will change up or down. In your case I wouldn't imagine it would be too bad, but you still have to make it through basic, thats tough.

It's good at your age that you already have a future planned out for yourself. Most people your age don't care anymore. One big hint of advice I can give you from my experience, stay away from girls!! Atleast until your ready to settle down & you have all your priorities in line. They will cloud your mind! Not to say that they are bad, but take my advice, you'll see what I mean when the time comes for you.

I still believe in you, I think you could run your own shop someday. You seem to have your head on straight.    :A
