Go To Lure
« on: May 25, 2009, 03:14:02 PM »
If you could only take one lure, what would it be? I know there are differences inshore/offshore so if you fish both, let's hear both. My fishing is in/near shore and I throw a bucktail jig as my prospecting lure. You can catch just about anything on them, they cast easily and you can cover a large area pretty quickly. I stopped by the Englewood Pier on my way home from work today and caught ladyfish, a small pompano and a 3' blacktip. All on the same bucktail. What's yours?

Lately it has been a Sebile stick shad witha blue back and chrome sides. Other than that a 1/4 oz D.O.A. C.A.L. paddle tail jig cream color with gold flake belly.

For me it has been the silver spoon.

The silver spoon is such a good imitation of the bait in the water lately, everything hits it, even the small black tip sharks.

Bucktails are also in my bag, I have white ones from an ¼ oz up to 2oz.

Bucktails work, plastics, spoons. Anything that copies the bait in the water. I’ll take live bait over them all if I can get it.

GatorDave...The Sebiles' are good looking lures. I've seen them demonstrated at some seminars and wanted to give one a try, but I just can't bring myself to pay $15 for a lure.

I like using Sebiles too, a bit pricey but nice.
Ebay pissed me off when I was selling there so now I’d rather give my money to the tackle shops.

I do hate losing a $15 plug.

I like the Smithwick Shallow divers & Rapala rattlers. I have a smithwick that is black & gold. Never let me down! Caught all kinds of stuff on that baby! I have a few rattlers that get pretty good bites too.    ~7~

Not tomany people use this lure, but a heddon swimmin image is the best lure i have ever used, my buddy and me will buy 5 to 6 at a time.  They have caught almost every kind of fish in charlotte harbor.  Its actually a fresh water lure. I keep 3 to 5 in my tackle box always.
